Release Notes

IMPORTANT: These release notes cover changes implemented since the latest major release (6.1.0.42176).

Breaking Changes

Security Improvements

General Improvements

  • JWT Tokens are fully supported to improve authentication performance and avoid accidental logouts from Cloud connected Sites.
  • Danish localization added.
  • Japanese translations improved.
  • The in-Client Remote Administration Tool is improved.
  • Improved Desktop Client stability on Windows 11.
  • The window size limitation is eliminated when using the --window-geometry CLI parameter to run the Desktop Client.
  • The --hide-panels CLI parameter is added to launch the Desktop Client with all side panels hidden.
  • The “Reset to defaults” Web Admin dialog is improved. It now notes that activated licenses will remain on Server after a reset.

Enterprise Functionality Improvements / Fixes

  • Sites could show up as Unreachable in the Desktop Client. Fixed.

Analytics Improvements / Fixes

  • Analytics event attribute information was missing in the Event Log description. Fixed.
  • In some cases, the “Analytics Object Detected” event rule did not process attributes correctly. Fixed.
  • Analytic Events were not triggered if the event rules were configured at the group level. Fixed.
  • The metadata configuration section in the “Advanced Parameters” tab is available even if the camera becomes offline.
  • LPR is implemented for Dahua DHI-ITC431-RW1F-IRL8.
  • Analytics did not work after a Vivotek camera was initially added to Server or rebooted. Fixed.
  • Hikvision analytics is now supported on Hikmicro devices.
  • The license plate frame (bounding box) did not work correctly on some Axis cameras. Fixed.
  • The “Ignore Unknown objects” option is introduced for the Axis analytics plugin.
  • On Axis analytics, the “Plugin failed to produce a manifest” error message appeared after each Server restart. Fixed.

Device-Specific Fixes
  • Fixed RTP issues on the URMET 1099/501B camera.
  • Live stream from AXIS F9114 could not load. Fixed.
  • Initialization is improved for MERIT-LILIN cameras.
  • Alarm input events are supported on Hikvision DS-2CD2123G2x, DS-2CD3687G3x and DS-2DE3C210IXx.
  • Osiris OS-I3-EENSW8Mx devices are detected as Dahua devices.
  • Input signals from FLIR were handled for 10–30 seconds. Fixed.
  • Incorrect RTSP streams were initialized for Hikmicro HM-TD1228-2/G1/T3A. Fixed.
  • Vehicle object timestamps on Vivotek cameras could be shifted. Fixed.
  • 2-way audio did not work on the Hikvision DS-QAZ1307G1T-E speaker. Fixed.
  • Dahua DH-VCS-SH30 speakers could not be discovered. Fixed.

Bug Fixes

General UI Fixes
  • Shared bookmarks with video footage longer than 1.5 minutes could not be played back properly. Fixed.
  • The Desktop Client window configuration was not saved properly if another Desktop Client instance was opened in a new window. Fixed.
  • The Desktop Client could crash while accessing Nx Maps. Fixed.
  • Some frames could be lost when a multi-video export contained many camera items. Fixed.
  • The Desktop Client on Windows could not be uninstalled remotely using SCCM and the psexec CLI tool. Fixed.
  • The Desktop Client could crash if a camera went offline while a maintenance confirmation dialog was open. Fixed.
  • Power Users or Administrators could not rename shared layouts after locking and unlocking them. Fixed.
  • The live stream could stop after selecting an offline device as the audio source. Fixed.
  • Shared layouts did not save resolution settings for cameras. Fixed.
  • Fixed the --window-geometry CLI parameter used to launch the Desktop Client.
  • Fixed the following audio features that did not work on Mac OS Tahoe:

Server Fixes
  • Fixed high CPU usage on Server after a live view license activation.
  • Server kept losing connection to the LDAP server after restart if it had been terminated unexpectedly before. Fixed.
  • Let's Encrypt certificates could not be loaded on a 6.1 Server due to an ECDSA key. Fixed.
  • The Server GUIDs of Nvidia Jetsons were identical, causing conflicts in multi-Server environments. Fixed.
  • Server did not restore connection to inaccessible SMB shared storage after it became accessible again. Fixed.
  • Sites containing apostrophe characters in their names could not connect to Cloud. Fixed.
  • Server tried to send a test email to mail@example.com every time the System (Site) Management settings dialog was opened in the Desktop Client. Fixed.
  • Sending emails from VMS using an insecure protocol did not work. Fixed.

API / SDK Fixes

  • Sites can be updated to a specific version via API using the /rest/v4/update method.
  • The internal HTTPS Request did not work with the Create Generic Event API /rest/v4/events/generic. Fixed.
  • Introduced the default value ${DATA_DIR}/update_verification_keys/ for the additionalUpdateVerificationKeysDir build parameter when building and signing a custom package.
  • Fixed documentation and implementation issues with the /rest/v4/login/tickets method. If a user tried to use the access token, the x-runtime-guid value, as a request body parameter key, Server returned an unauthorized error.
  • The sender SSRC was always 0 in the sender report while using the Nx Server RTSP API to restream. Fixed.
  • The preset ID was not created automatically by Server when using the ./rest/v{3-4}/devices/{device_id}/ptz/presets API request to create a preset. Fixed.
  • Integrations can now be deleted via API request.
  • The /rest/v4/update/info API call returned empty results. Fixed.
  • Showreels are now accessible to Power Users via API.
  • Port states were not available for ONVIF devices after I/O port monitoring restarted via rest/v4/devices/*/io. Fixed.
  • PTZ could not be activated by /rest/v3/device/{id}/ptz/tours/active. Fixed.
